Children who speak Spanish refer to God as Papa Dios—Daddy God. What a beautiful way to name God! In today’s reading Jesus shares what it is like to call God his own Daddy in a very unique way, calling God Abba in Hebrew. Jesus is truly the Son of God. However, just like the arguments going back and forth on Tuesdays and the book of Job, the religious leader go back and forth, arguing with Jesus and accusing him of making himself out to be God. They never dreamed that God could become human and be God at the same time. Yet that’s what happened in Jesus. They want to stone Jesus for making himself to be God.
As you read the passage, let yourself be amazed at how wonderful Jesus is. He longs to share with you, not only how amazing and lovely God is, but how wonderful he finds you to be. You are God’s very own child!
Talk to Daddy God. Remember too, God is like the most wonderful mother who loves you, because God gave birth to you.

Fridays are dedicated to the Gospels. This year, we generally read from the Gospel of Mark,
except during most of Lent and Easter when we read from the Gospel of John.
