Dead End? NOT!

Well, what do you think?  Does it look like bad people really get ahead in life?  Zophar, one of the debaters with Job, thinks that the wicked get punished.  Job in his frustration sees how sometimes evil people seem to end up pretty well.  In our own day, those who rob and cheat often look like they are living it up.  So back and forth the arguing continues-—like heading down a road that’s a dead end.

In fact, this is where Job winds up.  In today’s reading he says that whether a person is good or bad, everyone ends up in dirt at the end of life, “Both eaten by the same worms.”  Yuk!

But does life really have a dead end? No indeed!  Thanks to Jesus’ great love on the cross, what looked like a dead end actually opened out into immense, new life.  We share in the risen life of Jesus. Yes, our bodies will return to the dust from which they were made;  however, the Holy Spirit will breathe on the dust again and we’ll live forever with God and our loved ones.
