Today’s reading is an amazing drama. There’s a man born blind, his parents, some neighbors, some stuck-up religious leaders, Jesus and a few of his disciples. The reading is a play. How about having members of your family take parts and read their lines?
The man born blind comes not only to see, but to be filled with the light of faith about who Jesus is: the Messiah and Son of God. Catch the changes in him step-by-step. The religious leaders, on the other hand, claim to be able to see; however, they are the ones blind when it comes to faith in Jesus.
When you come to the part where the once blind man comes to faith and worships Jesus, you and your family stop and do the same. Say prayers of adoration, telling Jesus how much you believe in him and how you want to give your life to him. He will give you spiritual eyes so that you can “See him more clearly, love him more dearly and follow him more nearly.” (St. Richard of Chichester 1197-1253.
