Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel are among the great prophets of the Old Testament. In this Bible plan we read Isaiah in Advent (and other times as well) Jeremiah during Lent and Ezekiel during Easter. As part of their messages, these prophets announce the downfall of kings and nations that act as though they are God. As Mary the Mother of Jesus sang, “God exalts the humble and puts down the proud” (Luke 1:52).
In today’s reading, Ezekiel uses the image of a dead tree that comes to life and a great tree that will be cut down. Think of the tree that made the cross of Jesus as that dead tree that came to life in Jesus’s resurrection.
The Easter season is a wonderful time when everything comes to life in the northern part of the earth: plants and trees with beautiful blossoms and leaves. You too: God wants you to be so very happy, free and filled with life.
