Jesus Prepares a Place for Us

For the Fridays of the Easter Season we read from St. John’s Gospel and the words of Jesus at the Last Supper.  When we do this, we think not only of Jesus before his death, but also the forty days between the Resurrection of Jesus and the story of his Ascension into heaven.  Jesus will no longer appear to his disciples in the way that was told in the Gospels after the Resurrection.  In sync with the Jewish celebration of Shavuot the Holy Spirit is celebrated in a special way on Pentecost.

The words of Jesus are words of promise and hope.   Today he talks about going to prepare a place for us so that we will join him there one day.  Jesus shares the gift of the Holy Spirit who brings the heavenly life of God to us right now.

Listen to words of comfort and hope as Jesus talks about himself as the WAY to God, the TRUTH about God and the very LIFE of God.

Fridays are dedicated to the Gospels. This year, we generally read from the Gospel of Mark,
except during most of Lent and Easter when we read from the Gospel of John.
