Sweeping the Soul

Before you begin to read these twenty-four proverbs, spend some minutes breathing in and out as though you are gently sweeping your soul with a broom. The soul is that part of you that’s way inside. These proverbs can continue to be like these breaths.  The two parts of each one are like a breathing in and out—a gentle sweeping that gradually clears aware the dust from the floor of you—the bottom of your soul.

There are some wonderful words of wisdom here.  Some of the proverbs will touch you in special ways.  Pause and stay with them longer, perhaps writing in your journal just why these particular sayings are “waking you up” in those deep parts of your soul.  Fools are asleep in their spirit; wise and gentle persons are awake.  Here is a Bible Breath based on verse 21. Death and life are in the tongue.
