Have you ever been with a dear relative or friend as they say goodbye to you before they died? This is what
Moses is doing in Book of Deuteronomy. Listen as this great ancestor directs his final words to you. It is the Holy Spirit that will make this message personal and tender, as Moses pleads with you and all God’s people, to walk in all the ways of the Lord. Read slowly, with great care. Though you can always pick up your Bible and read these words again, listen inwardly in the heart, clinging to these final words of Moses, as though you will never hear from him again.
Try memorizing 11:18–21. What happens inside your heart as you listen? Can you catch the immensity of God’s love for you and God’s own longing that you live by God’s ways? Be moved. Change. Fall in love with God again.
