Broken Cords

We are just days away from Palm Sunday and the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The first singers of this Psalm know that the one who would lead them in triumph over all enemies would be the Suffering Servant. Jesus fulfills verses 3 and 4. These lines perfectly image death and resurrection. The resurrection has broken the cords of the scourging and the dragging of Jesus along the road leading to Calvary.

What do you experience as binding you, perhaps whipping you, and dragging you along in life? Believe that Jesus has taken your cords to himself and broken them for risen life. Be ready to know those precise, highly personal ways that Jesus is setting you free. Total, complete inner freedom is God’s offer to you. Accept no substitutes!
