Jesus and his disciples sang portions of these Passover Hallel songs as they walked from the upper room of the Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane. He must have felt the comfort of these verses that move between threat and divine protection as he entered into the first anguished feelings of the Passion in the agony in that garden.

This psalm that Jesus said before the Passion journey is a perfect one for you to pray before moments of challenge, suffering and anguish. You could well engrave and frame verse after verse as the psalmist lists the goodness of the Lord to him.

Take one minute by the clock and let your heart make a list of God’s bounties that burst forth from your spirit.
