The Wash of Regeneration

Prepare an inner manger of the heart for Jesus. Paul’s concluding chapter in this letter uplifts humility and gentleness which must precede the soul about to be immersed in the miracle of God’s presence in Christ. Thus, your spirit will be ready to receive the regenerating wash of the Holy Spirit expressed in verses 4 to 6. These are verses, which place the wonders of our redemption into tiny space; I suggest you memorize them. The verses are in preparation for the bath of grace; the following verses unfold the ways we are to live our transformed life.

Do not argue about theology; it only makes for division. Receive the measure of faith that God gives you and come into God’s presence. Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matt 18:20).

The Tolling Bell of Salvation

Tap here for a video meditation on Psalm 3.

In the middle of this week that is itself the middle of Advent, there comes a cry in the midst of enemy territory. John the Baptist could have groaned this psalm from his prison cell. Christians, Jews, and Muslims persecuted today around the world can do the same. Strengthen their prayer by binding yourself to them with these words of salvation.

May your inner conviction of this psalm ring out with the same deep resounding toll of a great bell. The emptier and darker the night, the more the clarion-call of God’s salvation can silence those taunting, tempting voices that may be keeping you fretfully, frightfully awake. Be assured of God’s salvation upon your life as you sleep in peace and rise in confidence.

The Spirit Breaks In

Jericho is taken, not by worldly strategies, but in the Lord’s unique way. It is time for what is “Jericho” in you to fall. Do some walking today in silence. Do not talk. It is Advent. Wait upon the Lord. Allow God to tell you when to make a move with your mouth. The decisive moment will come when God prompts you to speak or shout, breaking in upon any lying spirit that may lurk within your heart behind walls that need to fall. Like the shout when a karate chop breaks wood, let the Spirit break open the stuck and stubborn stuff in your spirit.

The Israelites hoarded enemy treasures intended only for the Lord. They were powerless before their enemies until they repented and released these treasures. Is there anything that you are clinging to or hoarding that belongs to the Lord?
