Again, God acts in the fullness of time. The waiting and expectancy are over; now God is moving in the final outpouring of divine life and love in the Holy Spirit.

There is a shift from the waiting for, to the outpouring of the Spirit in the words of Peter. The once impulsive, frightened, and reactive man now becomes a pure vessel for God’s strong, yet sweet activity through the Spirit.

The same changes can happen in you. Watch and wait with the disciples. The same Holy Spirit desires to infill you right now with power and love, transforming your unredeemed character into a personality totally soaked with Spirit-power and ready to move.

 Symbols can raise awareness to acute levels. This is evident in these chapters. Ezekiel is deeply conscious of the sins of the people for whom he intercedes.

You will read about the power of God and the divine outrage at the people and their high places in the mountains where they worship idols. That any person, place, or thing be more important than the Lord is to commit idolatry. God has made us to adore and worship the Lord alone.

Great pain occurs when life is lived without God as center. Is there anything of this kind of pain in your life? What images come to you in prayer? Jesus took all your pain and anguish so that you would not have to bear them any longer. Give all to God; adore and worship God alone.

Here is one of the principal places in the Bible that describes ordination to ministry. Again, the presence of God is described as fire. While consuming the offering of Aaron, the fire elevates it to heaven. On the other hand, the profane offering of Nadab and Abihu is simply reduced to ashes; nothing ascends. Idol worship has contaminated their offering.

You and I are to live immersed in Jesus, one with his offering in the fire of his love on the cross. We are one with him as priest, prophet, and king. Whether or not you are an ordained deacon, priest or elder, you still have a call to ministry placed upon your life. May there be nothing frivolous or contaminated with other “gods” in what you bring—nothing less than the offering of your self in service to the Lord.
