Many of the sayings attributed to Solomon are similes taken from everyday life. Images evoke meanings beyond rational understanding. Feel the images. As you live today, notice how the Spirit can use all aspects of your world to instruct you in the ways of the Lord. There is no experience, good or bad, that God cannot hone into a word of truth and grace for you. Be sensitive in receiving these gratuitous gifts from the Lord.

Matthew 12:42 cites Jesus as saying about himself: “Something greater than Solomon is here!” When you let Jesus fully share his risen life with you, then you have an inner wisdom greater than Solomon’s. Spend part of your prayer-time, writing sentences that the Holy Spirit inspires that can become personal proverbs for you and wisdom for others.

Gog is a symbol of all the forces of evil. However great be its power unleashed, greater still is the power of God, the Almighty, rising up to protect God’s beloved. The moment of evil’s apparent victory becomes the time when God releases the power to heal and restore his loved ones who are suffering.

Boldly believe beyond what the senses behold. Take courage from the central theme of this great prophet: the absolute sovereignty of God. The Enemy wants to fashion destructive weapons against you from the points of pain in your life. Note these points; allow them to be Firestarters for your soul.

Blockage becomes passage to new life. The stone before the tomb is rolled away, revealing its inner emptiness—faith proclaiming the resurrection. When Gog shows up, so does God—with much greater power!

There is a shift in the way the risen Jesus is with the disciples. Rather than appearing to them, Jesus is already present on the shore while seven disciples fish in the middle of the lake. Fishing is a symbol of ministry. Remember the call of three of these disciples: “I will make you fish for people.” (Cf. Mt. 4:19, Mk 1:17, Lk 5:10). There is abundant success in ministry and mission when we obey Jesus.

Join the disciples for breakfast with Jesus. This is the first personal encounter of Jesus with Peter since the latter’s denial. Catch the poignant, tender moment. Three times did Peter deny Jesus; three times, Jesus invites him to delete the denials with expressions of humble love.

This is your day to show love and loyalty to your risen Savior.
