Power in the Name

Perhaps Jesus often saw this lame man sitting by the door as Jesus went in and out of the Temple. He might have said to himself, “This one will be healed soon through my Spirit in Peter and John.” The Acts of the Apostles are the continuation into the Church of the ministry of Jesushealing, loving, teaching.

The evidence of the resurrection is immediate in the lives of the Apostles. Jesus lives in them. Not only has he died and risen, but so have the first Christians died and risen in him. Nothing can keep them from being with Jesus, for his Spirit dwells in them. They draw forth riches for healing, calling on the Name of Jesus that brings the power of this presence. Easter power is yours.

Apple in God’s Eye

Tap here for a video meditation on Psalm 17.

Clear a space at the center of your self. It is the middle of the week where the work-struggle is strong for so many. The first words of this psalm lead you into the presence of the Lord. The Holy Spirit prays through you as a defense attorney for yourself and the rest of humankind.

Even more than David’s surrender in trust, you, adopted son or daughter of the living God, have the right to come into the presence of God.

Examine yourself and your tongue, not with the knitted eyebrows of tight judgment, but with the openhanded, openhearted honesty that draws you closer to the Lord.

Here is your prayer for the day. Pray it often. Linger a long time with the last verse.
