All three of the great prophets—Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel—have harsh words against the godless nations that border the Holy Lands. These nations have been so puffed up on their own power trips that they think they are mightier than the God of Israel.

Today Jeremiah will tell Egypt a thing of two about that! He goes on and on about the consequences of Egypt’s going against God. Babylonia is going to gobble that country up! All this is happening in the year 605 before Christ.

There are lots of images that Jeremiah uses. Poetry is powerful to plant meaning deep into our hearts. Are there any images that especially touch you that God is using to talk with you?
