[From the original version]
Pure desperation fuels the prayer of the psalmist’s plea and gives him power. He knows where to go with all his pain. Inflating self with positive feelings when one is afraid or angry is not being honest with God. The soul poured out in intimacy with the Lord will eventually bring a peace that is greater than the negative emotions that might be present as prayer begins.
Take this psalm as a pattern for your own prayer, especially if you are experiencing trouble in your life. Say this psalm for others who may not know where to go with their pain. Today’s verse comes as a candle in the middle of the darkness. The morning brings a new day, a new perspective, and the confidence that prayer is reaching the heart of God.
