This Too Will Pass

[From the version for families with children]

A wonderful holy woman lived in Avila, Spain, in the 16th century. Her name was Teresa. She wrote spiritual books, and left us some one-line words of wisdom that are worth pondering about as we read Psalm 93. “This too will pass–God alone suffices.” Think of it: whatever may be happening in your life that is not happy —perhaps frightening and causing you distress; it will pass. God will not only remain with you, but will be the source of your comfort and strength in whatever suffering you might be going through.

The psalm describes God greatness over all the world. If the Lord is mightier than the oceans and the seas, he is certainly mightier than whatever meanness that might be coming against you. “This too will pass —God alone suffices.”
