It is tempting to dwell on the intrigues of those opposed to us, to wonder what they might be up to next. Many become very sick with these obsessive thoughts, leading to a state of fear and paranoia. The antidote to these obsessions is prayer, focusing upon the Lord.
Of the ten verses of this psalm, over half deal with David’s awareness of evil in others, the rest with awareness of what God is going to do. Yet all is prayer. You need not be concerned that it may take some “verses” of your prayer to give God all your concerns and worries. Gradually these will diminish as your soul tilts in praise of God. When your prayer is over, a peace and serenity will seep into your soul as the prayer silently flows into the hours of your day.
