The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

As bright as the sun from its rising to its setting, so is the brilliance of God’s presence in this psalm.  The light from two verses is especially important for me. “Cry out to me whenever you are in trouble; I will deliver you, then you will honor me” v. 15.  God is the one who helps us out when we’re having problems.

The other verse is the last one, verse 23: “The one who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving is the one who honors me.”  When you’re in a bad mood, it’s hard to be thankful, isn’t it?  Sometimes gratitude can be a sacrifice.  Push yourself to be grateful anyway; it’s a great way to stop being sorry for yourself.

Let the fire of God’s love burn away everything that stops gratitude, trust and praise of God from being released from your heart.
